golden hour maternity session in the malibu hills

Danielle and Jacob’s maternity session was everything I love about shooting in the Malibu hills — soft light, open space, and the kind of quiet that lets people just be. We spent the evening exploring one of my favorite hidden spots in the hills, surrounded by warm tones, tall grass, and golden sunlight filtering through the trees. It was calm, simple, and so full of connection.

I photographed this session using a mix of film and digital photography, and Super 8 video which I always love for capturing both texture and spontaneity. Film brings this richness and softness that just feels timeless, while digital lets us document all the tiny in-between moments. Danielle moved with such grace, and you could feel the love and anticipation between her and Jacob in every frame. This chapter of life, the slow buildup to something so big, is so special to witness.
